Ellen DeGeneres Starts ElevenEleven Records

After her first season of American Idol, Ellen DeGeneres has decided to make her own record label. The announcement was made on her afternoon talk show. The label is called ElevenEleven and was formed with Telepictures Productions.

We all hope to see some big music artist join her label soon.

Her first act has already been signed and appeared on her talk show performing an original song called Broken Hearts. The 12-year-old, Greyson Change, became know through a viral video where he covers Lady Gag's Paparazzi on piano.

Ozzy Osbourne Announces 2010 Ozzfest

For all those the metal heads out there, this one is for you. Ozzy Osbourne announced the 2010 Ozzfest on Friday, with a killer line up. The main stage is expected to include acts such as metal legend Rob Halford from Judas Priest, motley Crue, and Nonnpoint among others.

The second stage will display acts such as Zakk wylde's Black Label Society, Kingdom of Sorrow, Saviours, Kataklysm, and many others. Each night is expected to have 13 acts on two stages.

The 2010 Ozzfest tour is set to kick off August 14 in San Bernardino. The other tour dates are as follows:

Aug 17 - Chicago, IL - First Midwest Bank Amp.
Aug 19 - Pittsburgh, PA - First Niagara Pavilion
Aug 21 - Hartford, CT - Comcast Theater
Aug 22 - Camden, NJ - Susquehanna
Aug 24 - Boston, MA - Comcast Center

Unfortunately, these six dates are all that have been announced. Let me know if any of you kids know of good metal concerts for the upcoming 2010 summer?

Wild Seven Minute 46 Second Guitar Solo

I just finished watching an amazing compilation of songs by a talented guitar player, Brodie Cumming. His compilation is a live video of him playing riffs and solos from popular songs. Listening to the amazing song choices from a variety of different artist is something I believe most listeners can appreciate.

There are a few minor mess ups in this video. Compiling, memorizing and then playing this almost 8 minute song should justify a few mishaps though. I hope you all enjoy it as much as I did. Please leave your comments below and let me know what you think?

Don't Throw Away Those Old CD's or DVD's - Reuse Them

I recently came across a few great ideas of how to reuse your old CD's and DVDs. We all encounter the free CDs that we receive in the mail, or errors when burning a disk at home. Instead of throwing away those disks why not reuse them?

Everyone has CDs laying around the house. Its time to collect those old CDs and turn them into a work of art. This first project will use 15 CD's to build a CD rack. Sounds far fetched? Check out the instructions. This project -- surprisingly -- is not that difficult to build.

Ever thought of using those CDs and DVDs as a coaster? You can apply a piece of felt by gluing it to cover of the disk.

Use as reflectors for you bike and/or driveway. Simply drill holes in the disk and fasten to your bike, mailbox post, or add them to a steak and install it where needed.

Listening to Rock Music May Improve Your Memory and Concentration

Listening to guitar based music such as Jimi Hendrix, AC/DC, or the Red Hot Chili Peppers could help improve your memory and concentration. According to Times Online, researchers at a Scottish University monitored the brain activity of 16 volunteers while they performed simple memory tests. When the volunteers where listening to rock and classical music, bran scans revealed that they required far less effort to complete their tests.

For us avid music lovers this should come as no surprise. Music can be used to battle depression, break the tension in a discomforting car ride, or in this case improve our brainpower.

Rock Band Paramore Announces Honda Civic Summer Tour

Rock band Paramore recently announced that they will be headlining the Honda Civic Tour this summer. The tour has been scheduled to start in Raleigh, North Carolina and continue throughout the United States. Members of the official Paramore fan club will get first dibs on pre-sale tickets.

No More Stage Fright For American Idol's Alex Lambert

Alex Lambert says that his nerves got the best of him during his early American Idol days, according to MTV News. Judging from his recent performances, the singer appears to be choosing songs that suit him while improving his performances every week. Unfortunately, this was not enough to keep Labert on the show. On Thursday, March 11, 2010, Lambert didn't make the top 12.

Lambert was not alone, however. Lilly Scott, Katelyn Epperly and Todrick Hall were also booted from the stage. I wish them all the best of luck.

Snopp Dogg Teams Up With Kid Cudi

Recently, there has been news that Snopp Dogg and Kid Cudi will be collaborating on Snopps new single "That Tree." According to VH1.com, the album will be released on March 23, 2010. The producer for "That Tree," Diplo, explained that the song may have been released with Snopp's recent Malice and Wonderland album but was not due to deadlines.

According to Diplo, "It didn't make that album because of deadlines and it wasn't in the right shape. But they liked the track and really wanted to use it, so I did some more work on it and that's why it's just coming out now."

Will American Idol Survive Without Simon Cowell?

Fox's American Idol has become a hit over the years. The last five seasons have been the most-watched U.S. television show. Recent news may change that, however. During an L.A. press conference at the Television Critics Association, Simon Cowell announced that this would be his last season on American Idol. Will American Idol survive without him?

Watching the latest season without Paula Abdul made me wonder how the show will survive a second hit. Already there is a missing element which has not been replaced by the current judges. The constant drama and energy between Paula and Simon is missed. Will American Idol find a new Simon & Paula, and does American want them?
